The Woman in Black (2013)

A Ghost Story by Susan Hill
Adapted by Stephan Mallatratt

Based on the 1987 West End Production and still currently playing at the Fortune Theatre.

‘A man walks into a run-down Victorian theatre to tell his story…’

Proud and solitary, Eel Marsh House surveys the windswept reaches of the salt marshes beyond Nine Lives Causeway. Arthur Kipps, a junior solicitor, is summoned to attend the funeral of Mrs Alice Drablow, the house’s sole inhabitant, unaware of the tragic secrets which lie hidden behind the shuttered windows. It is not until he glimpses a wasted young woman dressed all in black at the funeral, that a creeping sense of unease begins to take hold. This feeling is deepened by the reluctance of the locals to talk of the woman in black – and her terrible purpose. Years later, as an old man, he recounts his experiences to an actor in a desperate attempt to exorcise the ghosts of the past. The play unfolds around the conversations of these two characters as they act out the solicitor’s experiences on Eel Marsh all those years ago.

Shakespeare In The Park (2019)

As part of the 120th Anniversary of Kuwait and UK Treaty relation on 1899. The British Embassy in Kuwait hosted a unique performance of extracts from some of William Shakespeare’s best known works by the One World Actors Centre CIC. These works include ‘As you like it,’ ‘Henry V,’ ‘Hamlet,’ ‘Macbeth,’ ‘Romeo and Juliet,’ ‘The Tempest,’ ‘Othello,’ ‘Anthony and Cleopatra,’ and ‘Much Ado About Nothing.’

''All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts.''

“It is my pleasure to congratulate Kuwait and Great Britain on 120 years of friendship,” famous British actress Dame Judi Dench said. “Over 400 years ago, William Shakespeare wrote the iconic ‘All the World is a Stage,’ which stated that all men and women are performers of their own lives in their own rights. It is therefore fitting that his famous plays are performed by a company of multicultural actors as envisioned by Kuwaiti Director Hamad Al-Jenaie for the UK Enterprise One World Actors Centre OIC.”

The Tempest (2022)

By William Shakespeare

After the success of HAMLET in 2019, our second production in our Shakespeare Trilogy presented as part of the Dar al Athar al Islamiyyah Cultural Season under the National Council for Culture Arts & Letters, is a comedy and fantasy which will be involve with Children’s imagination, Fantasy, Humanity, Family and Friendship.

The play was written circa 1611 and is considered one of William Shakespeare’s last few plays before he retired from the Theatre World.

In this version, initially set in a modern school class, Professor Prospero, a teacher, has summoned the student Sam to read a passage from ‘The Tempest’ . As he begins to read the first scene, the class is suddenly transported into the story, to a fantastical world; an island of imagination of spirits, creatures and a sorcerer who guards the island.

The Tempest is Shakespeare's last play before his retirement, a play that looks forward, and carries great hope for the future of humanity.

His extensive catalogue of theatre credits may belief his relative youth, but it pays testament to a wealth of experience. Having spent his formative years in the United Kingdom, he was brought up on a diet of English literature and passionate performances. From the land of Shakespeare, he’s bringing those same influences into play in the world of the theatrical arts in Kuwait. We spoke to Hamad not long after he stepped out of the stage door, fresh from his success with December’s production of ‘Sweeney Todd – The Demon Barber of Fleet Street’.
